This course aims to raise awareness of the dynamics of bullying and cyberbullying, their causes and consequences. There are individual, intrapersonal, and environmental factors that directly affect children and adolescents and their vulnerability to being bullied. Family, school, the internet, peers, and the community influence whether bullying begins, continues, or is eliminated. Therefore, knowing what these factors are and what they involve will allow us to adopt strategies to act against bullying through prevention, detection, and intervention. The specific learning objectives of the course are:
- Identify bullying based on the general characteristics that define it and the profiles involved in a bullying situation.
- Analyze the factors that influence its emergence: family, school, peers, and the internet.
- Understand the dynamics of cyberbullying and the risky behaviors of adolescents when using social networks and digital communication platforms.
- Understand the consequences of bullying for each profile involved in a bullying situation.
- Learn strategies to prevent, detect, and intervene in a bullying situation.
Methodology
Participants gain new knowledge and skills regarding the prevention, detection, and intervention of bullying through various types of materials that cover everything from the definition and origins of the term “bullying,” its characteristics, and influencing factors, to the strategies that can be implemented to address it. Participants will learn independently; that is, each person sets their own pace. This approach promotes flexibility. The only deadline to meet is the course completion date. Additionally, students will have access to virtual support and guidance from the teaching team whenever they deem it necessary.
